STROLLERS, BICYCLES AND DOGS MUST STAY OUTSIDE THE GATE.
  • NO FEEDING THE HORSES TREATS. EVER. They may bite.
  • NO RUNNING OR LOUD VOICES. This can scare the horses. Please monitor children’s behavior.
  • Minors must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.
  • You are welcome to PICNIC at the tables located by the riding rings!

Visitors who fail to respect these rules, or who come onto the grounds outside of posted hours, will be asked to leave the property.

Meadowbrook makes horses and riding accessible to a diverse group of riders and the public.

One important aspect of Meadowbrook’s non-profit mission is to “make the joy of engaging with horses available to children and youth from all walks of life.” We do this in several ways:

  • Youth employment program. Meadowbrook has an extensive youth employment program, hiring up to 25 young people each year as working students, riding lesson assistants, and camp counselors. For most of these young people, it’s their first job and it has a big impact: they’re mentored, learn solid work skills, build their resumes for college, and earn money.
  • Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) Team. Our IEA Team provides a way for riders in grades 6 through 12 to go deeper in their training, set competitive goals, and prepare for collegiate-style riding competition, without the expense of owning or leasing their own horse. We have about 25 riders each year in this program.
  • Need-based scholarships. Meadowbrook provides scholarships to lessons and summer camp for 5-6 riders each year, funded both out of Meadowbrook’s operating budget and personally by its Board members. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and a commitment to riding and horsemanship, and must generally already have been enrolled in one of Meadowbrook’s camp or other programs. For information on applying for a scholarship, email office@meadowbrookstables.org
  • Partnerships with schools and youth groups. We regularly work with various local schools and youth groups to provide unmounted, interactive educational programs. For information on setting up a program for your group, email office@meadowbrookstables.org.
  • Community open houses. Our doors are open to the community every day of the year! Come visit the horses, tour the barns, ask questions, bring a picnic. We also hold regular community Open House events, where we offer hands-on interactive activities like pony grooming and pony rides, as well as demonstrations. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook to learn about our next Open House!
