General Questions

Do you offer trail rides? No, we do not offer trail rides at Meadowbrook. Contact info@equiery.com to locate a stable in the Maryland area that offers trails rides near you or visit https://mda.maryland.gov/horseboard/Pages/events.aspx 

Can I host a birthday party at Meadowbrook? No, we are do not offer parties or special event rides/lessons at Meadowbrook. You could try contacting info@equiery.com to locate a stable in the Maryland area that offers these options near you.

Can I schedule a group or semi-private lesson for a private group? No, we are not able to schedule lessons for specific groups. Our programs run on a set schedule with set registration periods. Please see our New Student FAQ below.

New & Alumni Student Questions

What is the age limit? All riders must be at least 6 years old for all programs.​

Can I schedule a tour of the barn or take a trial lesson? We do not offer trial lessons or tours. Prospective students can watch lessons from outside the fence line if interested in seeing our program in action.

Do I need an evaluation lesson? We no longer offer evaluation lessons. Before registering, you are able to submit a lesson application with more information on your skill set. 

Do I need any special gear? Yes, all riders must bring their own riding equipment. This includes helmet, boots, britches or jodhpurs and a grooming kit depending upon age and level. See a complete list of items here.

Where can I purchase the required gear? There is a tack shop on site here at Meadowbrook. While we do not own the shop, it is operated in our loft. Contact j.b.creightonstore@gmail.com or call (202) 553-3466 for more info. For store hours, visit https://www.jbcreighton.com/.

What if I need to cancel a lesson? Can I reschedule? Please see our Program Policies Page and view the makeup policy for the program you are interested in.

What is the best time to join Meadowbrook? The best time to join Meadowbrook’s programs is in the summer as we have more flexibility for scheduling and riders have the chance to be introduced to our facility, staff, horses, and ponies before committing to the full School Year Program. Riders age 6-13 may join camp programs and riders age 13+ may apply for summer lessons. See registration periods on our program pages.

How do I know if I am considered a current student or new student? Current students are riders who were enrolled in the most recent or ongoing School Year Program. If a rider takes a break from riding with us, they are considered an alumni rider. If you have not ridden in a prior program with us, you are a new student!

Current Student Questions

How can I learn more about showing with Meadowbrook? Please come in and speak with our Office Manager about more opportunities! We are setting up a “Showing with Meadowbrook” webpage which will go live in the next few weeks. Parents of current riders who are showing or preparing to show will be able to review our Parent’s Guide to Horse Shows then!

How do I know what level to register for next term?When registering for Fall, current riders should check their prior Fall program evaluation or Summer evaluation email. If you have questions, contact the office!

Summer Camps

Are there any additional riding opportunities available? If your rider is 12 years of age and at the Start Canter level or above, we may have options for IEA or Show Team availalble. Adult riders please contact the office with questions about additional lessons or other riding opportunities.

Boarding & Leasing Questions

Can I rent (lease) a horse from your stable?

We do not “rent” horses to the public. Leasing options are only availalbe to riders currently enrolled who ride in training levels and are interested in showing with us.

Do you have any space for me to board my horse?

All boarders/lessors are required to be enrolled in the School Year Program before boarding or leasing can be discussed. Enrolling in our programs does not guarantee we will be abel to board your horse at our stable.

Community Program Questions

What programs are available to GirlScouts, Brownies, or other youth programs?

Yes! We offer two-hour programs. Contact office@meadowbrookstables.org for more information. 

Please note, our Community Programs are booked well in advance. To enquire about a program for your Scout Troop or other organization after that, please email the office.
